For miles of unspoiled natural beauty surrounded by golden sand and cool waters and the perpetual West Indian charm, plan a visit to Nevis, known as the "Secret of the Caribbean." Lying about two miles from its sister island, St. Kitts, Nevis offers an ideal place to just lie back and feel the warm Caribbean breezes on your face, doing absolutely nothing. Spend lazy days on the beach or enjoy an equally appetizing holiday filled with sight-seeing and sports.

Find amiable lodgings in the restored plantation or mansion inns, where the restored 18th century rooms and furnishings enchant visitors with historical beauty. Enjoy the tangy Caribbean cuisine in the many different establishments, most of them casual and friendly.

If you love nature, the Botanical Gardens of Nevis offers 7.8 acres of natural lagoons, streams, waterfalls, an impressive collection of birds such as egrets, herons, rose gardens, orchids, cacti, and much more. The Gardens displays almost every Caribbean ecosystem as well as a magnificent replica of a Mayan temple. A re-created 18th century plantation-style greathouse serves as a bistro that overlooks the sea.

A major attraction, the Alexander Hamilton Birthplace lies on the waterfront, marking the former home of a most influential American figure. The Georgian-style house serves as a reconstruction of Hamilton's 17th century home, and now acts as the Museum of Nevis History. This museum displays the history and culture of Nevis as well as housing the island's archives.

Newcastle Beach, Oualie Beach, and Pinney's Beach all make great places to swim, snorkel, or relax. Calm waters attract snorklers to explore and fantastic, blazing sunsets create the perfect romantic stroll. The jewel of beaches, Pinney's presents four miles of yellow sand lined with palm trees. Enjoy a cold drink at the casual beach bars and mingle with the friendly natives.

A variety of sports await the energetic vacationer on Nevis. Beautiful scenery and sunny weather make windsurfing and sailing especially popular. A ring of reefs around the island lures divers to explore. Take a daring hike to the top of the (now dormant, of course) volcano, Mt. Nevis, which measures up to over 3,000 feet.

Travel to Nevis and bask in a wealth of natural beauty. Relish the laid-back Caribbean environment and enjoy a vacation of total relaxation, or fill your days with adventure with underwater exploring and hiking.
